Sydney man, 72, accused of drugging his 88-year-old friend and then RAPING him

A 72-year-old man who allegedly drugged and raped his 88-year-old friend, later sent around video of the incident to out him as homosexual to his conservative Chinese community, a court has heard.

Tai Ho Wan, 72, and his male friend, 88, were both members of the Sydney’s Chinese community who became friends after meeting on a Blue Mountains bus trip in 2013.

In 2015 the older man visited Wan to discuss matters about their church, but claims that after drinking a coffee served to him by Wan he remembers nothing else about the visit.

Wan then allegedly videoed the pair having sex before sending an edited tape to the man’s employer, aiming to ‘prove’ that he was gay, The Sunday Telegraph reports.

When the older man’s employer received the sex tape they forwarded it to police.

During his interview with investigators the 88-year-old, who cannot be named, said he had no recollection of the sexual encounter with Wan.

Evidence heard in the Downing Centre District Court revealed that this, plus the fact the older man was largely passive throughout the sex tape, led police to believe he had been drugged.

But Wan, who edited himself out of the sex tape, denied raping his former friend.

He claimed the octogenarian had consented to the sexual encounter.
