A severe heatwave will see temperatures skyrocket across Australia this weekend as one state braces for the possibility of a third tropical cyclone.
Large parts of the country will enjoy temperatures in the low to mid 30s this weekend before a cool change arrives next week.
It comes as meteorologists say the possibility of a third tropical cyclone making landfall in Queensland as early as Tuesday has increased.
The low-pressure system will spend a week strengthening over the Coral Sea before returning to the coast, as heavy rain continues to batter parts of the state.
Here, Daily Mail Australia reveals what you can expect in your city this weekend.

Temperatures will remain in the high 30s in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Darwin
Sydney
Sydneysiders will receive a dry and hot weekend, with temperatures reaching 28C on Friday, 27C on Saturday and 32C on Sunday.
The Bureau warned large and powerful surf conditions would make activities like fishing, swimming and surfing dangerous at affected areas.
Brisbane
Severe thunderstorms, heavy rainfall and possible flash flooding was forecast for northern Queensland between Port Douglas and Paluma on Friday.
The intense rainfall and strong winds will remain a risk in the state’s northeast where the impacts of ex-cyclone Kirrily are still being felt.
It comes as the likelihood increases of yet another tropical cyclone making landfall on the Queensland coast as early as next Tuesday.
Weatherzone’s Joel Pippard said a low pressure system formed on Wednesday near K’gari, along the subtropical part of the Queensland coast.
The system is currently classed as a sub-tropical low and will have to go through several transitions to become a tropical cyclone.

The latest models indicate the system will spend a week strengthening over the Coral Sea and have direct impacts on Caledonia and potentially Vanuatu.
It will then track back west to the Queensland coast.
‘At this stage, there is enough uncertainty to take the forecast of a tropical cyclone with a large grain of salt,’ Mr Pippard said on Thursday.
‘It’s best to be aware but not alarmed about this system.’
The Bureau on Thursday said it had a 15 per cent chance of becoming a cyclone. Brisbane will remain hot and sunny this weekend, with tops of 32C.
Perth
The Bureau on Thursday said a cool change in the state’s southwest would arrive on the weekend after a sweltering three-day heatwave.
Daytime temperatures hit the low forties earlier in the week, with the state’s northern regions, such as the Gascoyne Junction, getting up to 47C.
Scorching temperatures of 39C were forecast for Perth on Friday before they dropped to 31C on Saturday and 26C on Sunday.
It comes as a welcome reprieve to WA residents who were warned to prepare for ‘extreme heatwave conditions’ earlier this week.

Melbourne
Victorians will enjoy a scorcher weekend with Sunday, when temperatures were initially expected to hit 38C, tipped to be the hottest day of the year.
Sunday is expected to reach 34C, with strong winds of up to 50km/hour forecast.
However the hot weather isn’t expected to last, with a cool change arriving on Monday causing temperatures to plummet next week.
The balmy weather hitting Victoria is a welcome change to the wet and stormy conditions the state experienced for much of December.
The Bureau is yet to class any single day as ‘hot – when temperatures are above 35C – in Melbourne this summer.
Adelaide
Temperatures have been steadily climbing this week with Saturday and Sunday expected to reach 33C.
Adelaide will experience a cool change beginning on Monday with temperatures to remain in the low to mid 20s for much of the week.
The hot weather is expected to return with temperatures of up to 27C on Thursday.

Hobart is in for a scorcher on Saturday, with temperatures reaching 27C before dropping again
Hobart
Hobart is in for a scorcher on Saturday, with temperatures reaching 27C.
However, showers and cool winds will mean the perfect summer weather is short-lived with a high chance of rain on Sunday and Monday.
Temperatures will remain in the low to mid 20s for much of the week.
Darwin
The Northern Territory will remain cloudy on Friday before a possible shower or storm on Saturday, when temperatures are expected to reach 33C.
The Bureau has forecast a 40% of rain on Saturday in Darwin and just outside it.
It said more rain was possible on Sunday, which is expected to be hot and cloudy.
Canberra
Cloudy conditions over Canberra are set to partially clear on Thursday ahead of a sunny day on Sunday.
Sunday is also forecast to be the capital’s hottest day this week with a top of 36C.
