A top Sydney recruiter has been revealed as the man behind the viral email that furiously called out staff for ‘endless ping pong’ and ‘not bothering to wear suits’.
Mars Recruiter owner and director of business development Marcus Wood unleashed the fury-laced rant towards his staff members, saying they were ‘really getting on (his) t*ts’ because they were taking ‘more sick days than Tom Hanks during the dying days of Philadelphia’.
Mr Wood, who has been in the industry for 15 years, wrote in the subscription-based industry website that the email should not have been sent and he ‘owned the mistake’.

‘The email I sent to staff last week was a Gordon Ramsay meets Donald Trump-style email rant in a moment of seeing red and most definitely should not have happened,’ he told Shortlist.
‘I realised it was inappropriate and sent a follow-up apology soon afterwards to the team.’
The director said he regretted that ‘passion clouded his judgement’ and claimed he was now using his heated tirade as a lesson in how not to communicate.
The email was sent to Mr Wood’s staff members with the subject line ‘Friday observation’. He said employees needed to ‘up their games’ or they would be ‘slung out the door in under three months’.
The anger-fuelled letter opened by targeting the ‘endless ping pong during business hours – especially from people with no money on the board’.
The boss then took aim at staff members’ casual attire at work, accusing them of ‘not bothering to put on a suit or pretending to look the part’.
Mr Wood continued by accusing his employees of ‘taking more sick days than Tom Hanks during the dying days of Philadelphia’ despite not making any sales during the week and singled out a small group.
‘Five or six of you are really getting on my t*ts in this office – you are a cost, you are demanding and exhausting and you don’t even look like you’re trying,’ he wrote.

‘If five-six of you don’t pick up your game massively you will see your sorry as**s fired and slung out the door in under three months.
‘You better all up your game else you will feel my wrath and that is not pretty.’
The author of the amusing email was hailed ‘boss of the year’ on Twitter.
One person even linked the email to the recently announced merger between Fairfax Media and Nine Network.
‘Costello moving fast at Nine Fax,’ one man commented.
The journalist who shared it on Twitter said: ‘part of me wants to work for them now.’
However, many people also criticised the director’s attitude with some calling him ‘an insecure manager.’
‘It has the same insecure grip on authority one would expect from an older sibling trying to take charge,’ one social media user wrote.
Mr Wood could not be reached for comment by Daily Mail Australia.
