Sydney Roosters firebrand Victor Radley has been slapped with a three-match ban for headbutting Dragons forward Blake Lawrie following a fiery night of Friday night footy.

The England representative somehow escaped the sin bin despite seemingly headbutting his Dragons rival during the Roosters’ Friday night clash in Round 12.

Dragons players, including captain Ben Hunt, remonstrated with referee Peter Gough and pointed at the big screen replaying the incident.

Despite their pleas, Radley was only put on report and stayed on the field with the Roosters even getting the penalty for an incident involving Zac Lomax that led up to the headbutt.

Radley will now miss three games with an early guilty plea, increasing to four games if he fights the charge and is found guilty at the judiciary.

With his team 12 points down midway through the first half, tempers flared close to the Dragons’ tryline, when a scuffle broke out among the players and Radley was at the centre of it.

Lomax was put on report for a head slamming action prior to the scuffle, but replays showed that in the midst of the melee, Radley put his head into Lawrie.

An incensed Ben Hunt said to the referee: ‘How have you not seen that?’ when replays were displayed on the big screen – and the official duly put Radley on report but chose not to send him to the bin.

‘He should go and buy a lottery ticket,’ Andrew Voss said on Fox League. ‘There’s a chair with his name on it in the sin bin but he’s dodged a bullet there.’

Greg Alexander said: ‘Well he did lead with the head. The vision is there. Have we stopped sinbinning people this week? Any other day Victor gets sinbinned.’
