Sydney woman fights for life after being hit by a truck as she crossed road in Villawood

A woman has been left with serious head and leg injuries after a suspected hit-and-run.

The 20-year-old was crossing a road in Villawood, west of Sydney, when she was hit by what has been described by police as ‘light-coloured ute’.

The green walk signal was lit when she crossed Woodville Street at the intersection of Tangerine Street at 9.35pm on Thursday, police said.

The truck allegedly fled the scene without stopping, heading northbound.

The truck overtook two vehicles before it failed to stop at the red light, according to 9NEWS.

The woman has been taken to Liverpool Hospital where she remains in a critical condition with ‘serious head and leg injuries’, according to police.

She also has a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain, 9News reported.
