A woman’s lavishly decorated Christmas tree has left hundreds green with envy – and she did it all for a surprisingly reasonable cost.

Claudette Diaz, who lives in Sydney, bought a $189 artificial tree from Target and set about covering it with ornate trinkets from Australia’s leading discount stores.

Eager to get a head start on the festive season, she wrapped the branches with ribbon from Amazon before loading them up with baubles from Kmart, Costco, and Woolworths.

Ms Diaz, who put her tree up on October 31, added finishing touches with over-sized flowers from The Dollar Shop and $7 magnolia stems from Big W, before crowning her creation with a glittering star from TK Maxx.

Photos of her elaborate handiwork, which have racked up more than 2,700 ‘likes’ since they were uploaded to an Australian Facebook group on Sunday, sparked widespread praise, with hundreds begging her to decorate theirs too.

‘Now THAT’S a tree!’ one woman wrote.

‘You could get a job decorating people’s Xmas trees, that looks amazing,’ said a second, while a third asked: ‘Can you do mine?’

A fourth was astounded by how expensive Ms Diaz had made the tree look.

‘This would be a $5,000 tree decorated, omg,’ she said.

Many called it the ‘best’ they have ever seen, with some even comparing it to a spread from a magazine.

Others thanked Ms Diaz for giving them the confidence to decorate their house 54 days before December 25.

One woman tagged her friend and wrote: ‘This lady doesn’t care – what should I do, put it up tomorrow?’

The post also drew dozens of tips for decorating on a budget.

One person said she finds it best to stick to a colour theme and use large decorations with different textures.
