Popular Mexican fast food chain Taco Bell has announced they will be opening their first ever restaurant in Melbourne.

As the date and location are yet to be revealed, the American franchise confirmed they are heading to the city’s inner east.

‘And we have arrived in…. Melbourne with our craveable Mexican-inspired menu!  Still scoping out living arrangements but stay tuned ’cause you’ll be calling us Melburnians real soon,’ Taco Bell said.

The menu will include popular items such as the Crunchwrap Supreme and Cheesy Gordita Crunch, as well as frozen Margaritas and craft beers.

The delicious announcement comes after its iconic burritos, quesadillas and nachos proved successful at their first Australian store in Brisbane’s Annerley.

Since then, Taco Bell has opened five stores around Queensland, including Cleveland, North Lakes, Robina and Southport.

Last year, franchisee Collins Foods, which has the Australian rights to Taco Bell and KFC, confirmed the chain will expand Down Under, with more than 50 stores set to roll out across the country over the next three years.

‘We have seen tremendous enthusiasm for the Taco Bell brand in Australia, and this is reflected in the continued strong performance of our Annerley restaurant,’ Collins Foods managing director Graham Maxwell previously said.

‘We believe in the significant growth potential of Taco Bell, and are pleased to have the strong confidence of Yum! Brands to grow Taco Bell’s presence across Queensland and into other markets.’

Taco Bell opened its first ever store in 1962 in Southern California – and has since rolled out more than 7,000 restaurants worldwide.
