TALK OF THE TOWN: Is Becks about to cook up a storm on Celebrity Bake Off? David Beckham is set to show off culinary skills on Channel 4 show

He can often be found showing off his culinary skills – so now David Beckham is being lined up for a stint on Celebrity Bake Off.

The ex-England captain, who has taken cookery lessons in France and Italy, has been asked to star on the Channel 4 show after bosses became aware of his passion for food.

The 45-year-old has been approached to take part on next year’s series, filming for which would start later this year.

A source close to the star says: ‘David loves cooking and has been doing a lot of it during lockdown. He’d be great for Bake Off.’

The Boomtown Rats singer says life became intolerable after Live Aid, when fans would mob him.

‘There was a period where I think I was loved, which was overwhelming,’ admits Bob, now 68.

‘Old ladies would stop dead in their tracks when they saw me.

‘Some of them would approach and touch me and start blubbing. And you are going, ‘What? F*** off.’ It became quite unbearable.’
