TALK OF THE TOWN: Jodie Kidd joins Sarah, Duchess of York to talk about climate change in Venice… after flying there on a private jet

Model Jodie Kidd was in Venice with the Duchess of York last week to launch an eco-car and lament about climate change following the devastating floods in the Italian city. So far, so green and virtuous.

Only one thing spoiled it – Jodie flew there on a private jet.

And it didn’t go unnoticed. When she took to her Instagram page to declare the situation in Venice ‘an absolute travesty’ but also claim ‘it’s a real highlight of what’s happening on our planet with global warming’, her followers responded in droves.

One wrote: ‘A slightly mixed message talking about sustainability when you are in Venice supporting it, having flown by private jet, isn’t it?’

Quickly backtracking, Jodie – pictured below with Fergie – blamed her travel plans on a pal, writing: ‘I was offered a lift, not organised by me, a way I never normally travel.’

Kate Moss’s daughter Lila is already realising there are drawbacks to fame. I spotted Lila and her pal Stella Jones – the daughter of The Clash guitarist Mick Jones – at Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland last week, where they attempted to order pints of lager.

Alas, the models are only 17 and, thanks to their angelic-looking faces being splashed all over advertising campaigns, the barmaid recognised them and refused to serve them.

MR OBNOXIOUS: Russell Brand

Russell Brand’s ego is so out of control that he’s decided to host an annual ball in his own name. The first Russell Brand Ball will take place next year, but in a rare moment of humility the star, below, admits: ‘Only 100 or so of you will bother to sign up, but that’s OK – we’ll just gather around and I will be wearing a velvety smoking jacket.’ Sounds like a riot…

Being a chart-topper isn’t what it used to be – instead of being besieged by admirers, poor Lewis Capaldi admits he has totally failed to get a girlfriend despite being a singing star.

The 23-year-old Scot, who had a number one for seven weeks with his song Someone You Loved, tells me: ‘If I am looking for sex, I have not been doing a very good job. I have been putting myself out there but I live with my parents. I’m also on the chubbier side. ’

Come on, Lewis. You’re already worth £8 million – it really is time to get your own place!
