Tammin Sursok held at gunpoint by Joe Exotic while filming in America

Home and Away star Tammin Sursok reveals she was held at gunpoint by Joe Exotic while filming in America

Tammin Sursok lived an exciting life as an actress in Los Angeles for 15 years.

But it seems she was also subjected to some rather unpredictable situations on various sets.

The former Home and Away star, 38, told HIT FM’s Breakfast with Stav, Abby and Matt on Thursday she and husband Sean McEwen were once held at gunpoint by none other than Joe Exotic.

Her own Tiger King moment: Former Home and Away star Tammin Sursok said on Thursday she and husband Sean McEwen were once held at gunpoint by none other than Joe Exotic

‘So we were in one of his bars and he pulled a gun on us… the actual Joe Exotic pulled a gun on us and [he] was like, “Get out of our bar,”‘ she said of her bizarre encounter with the jailed Tiger King star.

‘And then the producer came in and said, “No, no, they are allowed to shoot here,” and he was like, “Okay,” and put his gun away!’ she continued.

One of the hosts asked Tammin if she thought her life was in danger.

‘Listen, in America you always think they’re going to shoot and there’s so many… we heard gunshots the day we left. You can’t ever think that they’re not, so you’re always on the defence,’ she said.

‘I mean he pulled a gun on us and if we had fought him he would’ve shot us in the arm. I’m sure if we kerfuffled, I don’t know, I wouldn’t put it past him. You don’t know what people are like when they’re protecting something that they value.’

Dangerous territory: 'So we were in one of his bars and he pulled a gun on us… the actual Joe Exotic pulled a gun on us and [he] was like, "Get out of our bar,"' Tammin said of her bizarre encounter with the jailed Tiger King star (pictured)

Tammin added that her film producer husband was convinced at the time Joe’s life would make for a great TV show.

‘My husband said to me that night, “It’d be so great to get the rights to his story,” and we were like, “Nah, nothing would happen with that!”‘ she said.

He went on to achieve worldwide fame in Netflix series Tiger King.

‘That was the worst decision we ever made,’ Tammin admitted of not pursuing the rights to Joe’s life story at the time.

Tammin lived in Los Angeles for 15 years, before returning to Australia earlier this year with husband Sean and their daughters Phoenix, seven, and Lennon, two.
