Tara Reid, 45, hits back at body-shaming fans for claiming she looks ‘too thin’ in bikini snaps

Tara Reid has slammed ‘body-shaming’ fans for claiming she looks ‘too thin’ in her latest bikini snaps – and revealed she has a high metabolism.

The American Pie star, 45, posted two black and white snaps of herself on Wednesday posing in a bikini, captioned: ‘Nothing better then your friend taking hot artsy pics of you in Palm Springs aka @tarynmanning.’

The star showcased some dramatic poses in the photos but fans immediately voiced their ‘concern’ and said she looked ‘too skinny.’

Fury: Tara Reid has slammed ‘body-shaming’ fans for claiming she looks ‘too thin’ in her latest bikini snaps – and revealed she has a high metabolism

One fan wrote: ‘let’s be real. There’s skinny and unhealthy. Someone needs to step and help her. She’s always been a pretty Girl but she doesn’t look well here.’

Another wrote: ‘so thin’ while a third typed: ‘Not hate just a concern.’

Tara immediately hit back, writing: ‘Stop hating, start loving. No one needs to be body shaming. It’s not right, it’s not cool and it hurts people. Please don’t be one of those people, it does have an effect.’

Taryn also chimed in to defend Tara, writing: ‘I love you my super hero. If only they knew your heart and soul they would feel terrible deliberately trying to hurt you. Proud of you. I would do anything for your washboard abs BTW.’

‘Good news is, haters only mean you still got that thing!’

Tara later returned to Instagram to share another bikini post in colour, where she blamed the angle for making her look different and said she had a high metabolism which made it ‘impossible’ to gain weight.

She wrote: ‘To all who made their great comments exposing their hate for my artsy picture I posted yesterday, it was the angle.

‘Here is another picture from yesterday to show you I am not too skinny, I have a high metabolism. Anyone with a high metabolism understands it’s impossible to gain weight. All I do is eat.

‘To everyone who wrote something nice and stuck up for me, I love you! And keep spreading that love, it is the only thing that will save this world.’

In 2018 Tara commented on speculation she had an eating disorder in a candid chat with DailyMailTV.

She said: ‘People have been calling me painfully thin for years. I can take one of the Halloween costumes I wore last year and put it on this year.

‘It’s the same weight. I don’t fluctuate – it’s just who I am. I do eat. I eat all the time. But this is just my natural weight and people need to leave me alone.’

That same year, she told  Closer magazine about the shocking lengths trolls have gone to to mock her weight – with onlookers demanding she eat a burger, and even taking photos of her while she dines with friends.

However, she blasted the attention over her body as ‘ridiculous’, as she has a perfectly healthy diet, with her figure simply the result of a ‘fast metabolism’.

Tara told the magazine she finds the obsession with her slim frame infuriating, as people just assume she has issues with food.

In 2008, Tara also told OK! Magazine: ‘I was thin for a movie that I just finished, the upcoming horror film Vipers. Now they’re going to see me and say I’m too fat because I’ve gained 10 pounds…I can’t win!’

She explained: ‘My friends find it more ridiculous than anyone, because they’ll tell you I eat a lot and I just have a really fast metabolism.’

The actress added that people have become so fixated on her body they even take photos of her while she eats, and continually demand her to dine in front of them.

‘People make fun of me and say ‘Eat a burger!’ and I’m like ‘Dude I had two today!’, she went on, ‘If I didn’t eat, I wouldn’t have lived to be 42 years old and I wouldn’t died years ago – so everyone needs to get over it.’

Back in 2004, Tara was left with a ‘rippling and bulging’ stomach after botched liposuction surgery.

She said at the time: ‘I got lipo because even though I was skinny, I wanted – I’m not going to lie – a six-pack. I had body contouring, but it all went wrong. My stomach became the most ripply, bulgy thing.’

After finding fame in American Pie in 2000, Tara went on to become one of Hollywood’s most notorious partygirls and was pictured falling out of nightclubs in cities across the world, from Los Angeles to Paris to London.

Tara checked into rehab in 2004 and though she later fell off the wagon, she has been working on her sobriety in recent years.
