Taylor Swift has wiped all of her social media pages clean.
Around 11:30 EST Friday morning, the 27-year-old began deleting content from every single one of her social media accounts. She wiped her Instagram and Twitter, Tumblr, and website completely blank — and her Facebook with no posts after late 2015.
The surprise move has her fans freaking out and grasping for more information, speculating on whether the singer is preparing for a big album release or merely retreating from the public eye.
Finally clean: Taylor Swift has deleted content from all of her social media pages
We are never, ever getting those posts back: While she still maintains 102 million Instagram followers, her posts are all gone
Mean: The singer has gotten rid of everything on Twitter
Dating back to December (2015): Fans were shocked when they started to discover the move around 11:30am EST; there are still some old posts on Facebook
Fans started noticing her missing social media pages before noon on Friday, quickly taking to Twitter to express their surprise and distress.
On Instagram, where Taylor has a whopping 102 million followers — and has racked up million of likes for several of her photos — she now has nothing but a blank space.
The move is particularly surprising because none of the content can be restored, and her record number of likes are lost forever. Taylor is also no longer following anyone on the social media platform.
Over on Facebook, where she has over 70.5 million followers, she has deleted everything that was posted after December 6, 2015, leaving behind just a blank profile picture and pictures and videos shared while she was still touring for 1989.
Her Tumblr is completely blank, wiped clean just two days after her final activity on the site: liking a screenshot of a New York Times interview with an artist who was present at the trial against DJ David Mueller. The quote details how he used Taylor’s battle to teach his daughter how to fight her own battles.
Guess she’ll begin again? Taylor also deleted her website, prompting some to believe she is releasing new music
Gone: However, much of the content she deleted cannot be restored
Everything on Taylor’s Twitter page, meanwhile, has also been deleted.
Other celebrities have deleted their social media pages in the past, including rival Kanye West, Justin Bieber, Chrissy Teigen, and Lindsay Lohan.
Most of those stars did so because they needed a ‘break’ from the pressures and drama of social sites.
And Taylor has certainly been taking a step back from the public eye. During her recent groping trial, she kept quite on social media and was rarely photographed in public.
The former paparazzi favorite has been caught by the photographers in recent months, either, and has shied away from red carpet events.
While there’s no doubt she has been laying low, many of her fans see the social media sweep as a move meant to set up a new music release.
Some merely expressed surprise and shock, but others voiced excitement, insisting it meant Taylor Swift is ‘coming’.
‘On the 3 year anniversary of @taylorswift13 announcing ‘1989,’ she has deleted all her social media accounts and this is me. #TS6ISCOMING,’ one wrote, referencing a possible sixth album.
‘Taylor Swift casually crashing the internet,’ wrote another.
A particularly resourceful fan even took a look at the source code for Taylor’s now-black website. The fan noticed that in the script are the words ‘ivegotablankspace’ and the even more cryptic ‘that’s what they don’t see’.
Taylor’s last album, 1989, was released on October 27, 2014. Her previous album, Red, was also released on October of 2012, which may indicate another October release date.
