Taylor Swift’s father deletes his private Facebook account

Taylor Swift’s father Scott has deleted his Facebook account after the singer appeared to reveal it to fans, who claimed they had found right-wing memes on his personal page.

The 29-year-old pop star, who endorsed Democrat politicians in her home state of Tennessee last year, appeared to share a joke on Tumblr which her father Scott Swift had made on his personal Facebook page.

The Tumblr post was quickly deleted and her father’s Facebook account disappeared soon after.

But before Scott’s Facebook was deleted, screenshots were taken of what were claimed to be political posts including right-leaning memes about immigration and one refusing to acknowledge Elizabeth Warren as a Senator.

It is unclear whether the memes were really shared by him and there has been speculation that his account was maliciously hacked and the posts fabricated.

However, the quick deletions also prompted speculation that Swift would not want the political posts out there – a day before she launches her new album ‘Lover’ which is expected to have left-leaning ‘political undertones’.

The singer’s representatives made no comment when approached by MailOnline.

Swift, who has said herself that there are ‘political undertones’ in her new music, is set to release her widely anticipated new album on Friday night.

The singer calls out homophobes and her own haters in a clip from her song ‘You Need To Calm Down’ which was released in June.

The video finishes with the words: ‘Let’s show our pride by demanding that, on a national level, our laws truly treat all of our citizens equally.’

She is performing songs from the new album in New York’s Central Park on Thursday for an appearance on Good Morning America.

Last night the ABC show’s Twitter account shared footage of Scott Swift helping Taylor’s entourage to deliver pizza to fans who had camped out to see her.

The posts purportedly found on her father’s Facebook included a meme about paying taxes and listing illegal immigrants as dependents.

‘The IRS has returned my tax return to me this year after I apparently answered one of the questions incorrectly… In response to the question, ‘Do you have anyone dependent on you?’ I wrote: ‘9.5 million illegal immigrants, 1.1 million crack heads, 3.4 million unemployable scroungers, 80,000 criminals in over 85 prisons plus 650 idiots in Washington’. The IRS stated the answer I gave was ‘unacceptable!’,’ the meme read.

The views from the memes would be in stark contrast to the liberal beliefs his daughter has been sharing of late.

Swift famously broke her years-long silence on her political beliefs last year when she publicly endorsed a Democratic candidate for Congress and attacked a Republican running for office in her home state of Tennessee.

She came out swinging as she vowed to oppose Senator Marsha Blackburn – who ultimately went on to win – because of her voting record on women’s rights and LGBTQ rights.

Swift also encouraged her fans to vote in the mid-term elections, which prompted a spike in voter registration numbers.

Her Instagram post about the Republican senator drew criticism from President Donald Trump who said: ‘I’m sure Taylor Swift has nothing – or doesn’t know anything about’ Blackburn, adding, ‘Let’s say that I like Taylor’s music about 25 per cent less now, OK?’

The speculation about her father’s social media posts began when Taylor Swift appeared to re-post a joke he made on the Facebook page.

‘Taylor and Austin said I needed to get steps on my phone. Wrapped phone in a towel, secured with rubber bands and put it in dryer on ‘cool’. Put 10,000 steps on the phone, watching golf. Feel great. They were right!,’ he said.

In a Tumblr post, Taylor Swift seemingly shared her father’s joke, leading fans to his Facebook page.

‘This man must be stopped,’ she said, joking about ‘parents on the loose’ and ‘no more guitar picks for him’.
