Teddi Mellencamp reveals she is turning to immunotherapy treatment in her battle against skin cancer
Teddi Mellencamp is turning to a new treatment in her battle against skin cancer.
The reality star, 42, shared the results of the recent procedure to remove a melanoma in mid-September.
‘Another update I didn’t want to give but in an effort to be fully transparent and help others, here goes…,’ the nutrition coach wrote on social media Saturday.
She wore a pink bra top and matching leggings, but turned her back to the camera to showed the scar from her recent operation.
‘I received the call yesterday from my doctor that not all the margins are clear after my last wide excision surgery, she reported.

‘Because the area is so broad they no longer feel comfortable cutting,’ she explained.
The good news is she has her doctor’s okay to ‘show at nationals,’ but will begin the new treatment when she returns.
Teddi and daughter Slate, who will turn 11 in October, are competing in the Capital Challenge Horse show.
Teddi began riding about age three, and began showing at age seven. It appears Slate is following in her equestrian footsteps.
‘I will start on a 5-week immunotherapy cream,’ she wrote, and sharing the information she had received.
‘Immunotherapy is an anti-cancer treatment that uses the body’s immune system to attack cancer cells. An immunotherapy cream called imiquimod (Aldara®) is a cream that stimulates the immune system.’
‘Side effects include: fatigue, inflammation, blisters and some pain,’ she said, adding, ‘but ya know what, it’s better than the alternative.’
She then advised her followers to ‘Stay vigilant on getting your skin checked my friends. We can fight this. @curemelanoma #skincancerawareness.’

Teddi starred in the #GetNaked campaign for the Melanoma Research Foundation, showing her scars in a series of beautiful black and white prints for the non-profit foundation.
Her husband Edwin Arroyave, 46, joined her in one of the sexy snaps.
The couple have been married since 2011 and share Slate, Cruz, eight, and Dove, three, along with Isabella ‘Bella’, 14, Edwin’s daughter from a previous relationship.
