Teddy Sheringham admits he would be ‘very surprised’ if Harry Kane doesn’t leave Tottenham after England’s Euro 2020 final defeat… with former Spurs star tipping him to have an agreement with Daniel Levy over a £150m move

Teddy Sheringham has insisted that he ‘can’t see’ Harry Kane staying at Tottenham this summer, and believes the talisman may even have an agreement with Daniel Levy over a transfer.

Manchester City launched a hefty £100million push to try and snap up Kane, as reported by Sportsmail last month, and Kane’s preferred destination is understood to be the Etihad Stadium.

With Kane having now wrapped up his time with England at Euro 2020, speculation will continue to build over his future, and former Spurs striker Sheringham has tipped him to move on soon.

‘I’d be very surprised if he (Kane) doesn’t move straight after the Euros after what he said,’ Sheringham told YouTube channel The United Stand.

‘If he hasn’t got some sort of deal with Levy, I’d be very surprised.

‘For him to come out and say what he said and then still be at Tottenham next year, I can’t see that happening.

‘If it does, it might work in [Man City’s] favour, because he’s talked about playing with [Kevin] De Bruyne, that would make them phenomenal for the next four or five years.

‘If he does have to stay at Tottenham and [Edinson] Cavani stays for the next year, that might work in Harry Kane’s favour for Harry Kane to go to United then.

‘City need a centre-forward now with [Sergio] Aguero leaving, so we’ll have to wait and see really. But I’d be really surprised if Kane was still at Tottenham at the start of the season.’

Kane is keen to leave the north London club in search of a team that can challenge regularly for trophies and compete in the Champions League.

Chelsea and Manchester United are also both understood to be keen to swoop for the 27-year-old.

It is no secret that Kane was not willing to engage in any discussions over his future until his involvement this summer with the Three Lions was up, but City have got the ball rolling in their bid to sign him up.

Levy, a fierce negotiator, values Kane at a minimum fee of £150m and will be extremely reluctant to let his top ace leave.

Pep Guardiola, meanwhile, has recently admitted that City are struggling to shell out enough money to secure a replacement for Aguero – with Kane and Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland their top targets.

‘At the prices (quoted) we are not going to buy any strikers. It is impossible, we cannot afford it,’ Guardiola told TV3 in Catalonia.

‘All clubs are struggling financially, we are not an exception. We have Gabriel (Jesus) and Ferran (Torres) who have been incredible in this position.

‘We have young players in the academy and we play many times with a false nine. There is more of a chance we aren’t going to buy a striker for next season.’
