A 17-year-old mother allegedly stabbed her baby nine times minutes after she was born and dumped the body in a neighbor’s shed.

Erica Gomez gave birth the bathroom of her El Paso, Texas, home on February 9 then wrapped it in a bathrobe, she admitted to police according to court documents.

The teenager said she took the baby girl to the shed 30 yards from her home on Frankie Lane before returning to her room and going to sleep.

Her mother noticed she was bleeding and took her to the hospital where a doctor determined she had a miscarriage.

The El Dorado High School student told police she didn’t tell her mother or doctors about the birth because she was scared.

The mangled body was discovered by a 13-year-old boy who lived at the neighbor’s home about 12 hours after the baby was born.

Police were called to the neighbor’s house and found the body sitting on the kitchen bench with the owner telling officers his son found it.

The newborn girl was stabbed three times in the neck, once in the side and five times in the back with forensic examiner Janice Diaz ruling it a murder.

Gomez was arrested weeks later and held at the El Paso County jail on an $800,000 bond charged with capital murder.

Her heartbroken confirmation teacher Erica Martinez said she wished she had done more for the girl and visited her family to offer support.

‘I cannot understand what she was thinking or feeling. I’m distraught for her, for her future, for her family,’ she told KFOX news.
