A teenager has been charged over the death of his-ex-girlfriend’s father after he and a mate allegedly bashed him over the head with a sawn-off shotgun.

David Murphy died on the side of a road in southeast Queensland after he was allegedly attacked by Kynan Ignacio Vital, who had dated Mr Murphy’s daughter, and Ethan Maurice McPherson, both 19, during a brutal road rage incident.

Mr Murphy had tracked the teens down after they allegedly stormed his home and punched his daughter, Julia Murphy, 20, in the face and stole her phone.

Mr Murphy was with a 20-year-old family friend and his teenage son when he followed the two teens to The Promenade at Springfield Lakes at about 10pm.

When the ute with the two teenagers inside crashed into electricity pillars, a fight allegedly broke out on the street. 

Mr Murphy, 49, was then allegedly hit over the head with the shotgun. 

Witnesses had attempted to stem the bleeding with towels brought out from their homes, however, he died before paramedics arrived.

‘There was just blood everywhere so we did CPR on him until the police arrived,’ a witness told 9news.

Mr Murphy has been remembered as a devoted father and loving husband. 

The two teenagers had allegedly fled the scene but were later found at a home on Atlantic Drive.

They were arrested and charged with murder, common assault, enter dwelling and robbery with violence.

They will appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday.
