A teenage boy is dead and another is fighting for life after a horrific two vehicle crash in Queensland.

Police said a sedan and ute travelling in opposite directions along Tamborine Oxenford Road collided at around 3.30pm at Oxenford, north of the Gold Coast on Sunday afternoon.

A teenage boy, 15, who was a rear driver’s side passenger in the sedan, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

‘The driver of the sedan was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital with critical injuries,’ a Queensland Police statement said.

Two other passengers in the sedan and all three occupants of the ute suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the collision.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia that three were taken to hospital by paramedics while two others made their own way to hospital.

The Forensic Crash Unit remains at the scene. 

As of Sunday night, Tamborine Oxenford Road remains closed between Michigan Drive and the roundabout while police conduct investigations.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia that no further information was available.

‘I drive that road every day, it is a dangerous bend especially with that quarry entrance right on the bend,’ one man commented on the Queensland Police Facebook page.
