This is the nail-biting moment a 17-year-old girl falls into a river after a bungee jump attempt goes wrong in Beijing, China.

Dramatic footage from August 18 shows the girl plunging from a platform some 50 metres (164 ft) high before the rope snaps.

She was taken to hospital immediately and was found to have no life-threatening injuries.

According to People’s Daily Online, the 17-year-old girl, from Tianjin, went bungee jumping at Shidu National Park in Fangshan district of Beijing on August 18.

The video clip shows her cord snapping after it rebounds twice during the jump above a river.

She falls straight into the river.

Beijing Juma Entertainment Limited Company, who was responsible for the bungee jump, confirmed to People’s Daily Online that this incident had occurred.

An initial investigation indicated that there were communication errors during the operation when staff members tried to recoil the cord.

The harness and other equipment had been checked and passed the safety standards.

The girl was sent to The First Hospital of Fangshan District in Beijing for a full body inspection after being rescued from the river.

She was found to have no life-threatening injuries and has now been transferred to 301 Military Hospital for further inspection.

Shidu National Park has now closed down all the bungee jumps for a full safety check until further notice.

Administration of Work Safety at Fangshan District had already started an investigation and the involved staff members were suspended.
