Teen who joined ISIS boasted there would be ‘more attacks’

The teenage girl who ran away to join ISIS boasted to police there would be ‘many more attacks’ in her native Germany before she was captured in Iraq.

Linda Wenzel, 17, posted a chilling message on social media to her parents which read: ‘Because I know that the dear officers for the protection of the constitution and the state police will also be reading this I want to add a few words for those filthy dogs… there are going to be many many more attacks to follow.’

The details of the message came to light as fears were raised that her recent repentance may merely be an attempt to avoid the death penalty.

Linda Wenzel, 17, ran away from home in 2015 but was arrested in August 2017 and is being held in a prison in Baghdad, Iraq.

It is thought she moved from Syria to Iraq during her time with the terrorist organisation.

It is not known when she sent the message or how she accessed the internet.

But the warning recently came to light after her mother Katharina, 53, and sister Miriam were allowed to visit her for the first time.

The reunion was filmed by German broadcaster ARD in which she told her family: ‘I was only inside houses. I had never anything to do with weapons.’

Iraq prosecutors are investing the girl, from Saxon, Germany, for being a member of a terrorist organisation.

The girl was arrested in Iraq, in Mosul in a destroyed house. She had been alone and injured when the soldiers found her.

Sources inside German intelligence and security services say the IS schoolgirl is unrepentant of her alleged actions. She is now facing the death penalty.

During the first time she spoke publicly Linda told her mum: ‘I do not know how I came up with the stupid idea to go to the Islamic State. I have ruined my life.’

She joined IS at the age of just 15 when she forged her mum’s permission to allow her to buy a plane ticket to Istanbul, Turkey, which is close to the border with Syria.

She had fallen in love with a Muslim man she met online, a Chechen fighter from Austria named Abu Usama al-Shishani, and who persuaded her to go to join him and the so-called Islamic State to answer the call of jihad.

He has since died and Linda claims to have been shifted through different women shelters belonging to IS.

She would be facing just 10 years in prison in her hometown, though extradition is reportedly unlikely.

The mother and daughter’s reunion was captured on camera in an awkward exchange earlier this month.

But Linda, wearing a headscarf and dark-coloured Islamic kaftan robe, was seen with a big smile on her face when she saw her mother.

She told her mother: ‘I do not know, how I came up with the stupid idea to go to the Islamic State. I have ruined my life.’

The German schoolgirl claims she never fought for ISIS.

She said that after the death of her jihadist husband, a Chechen fighter from Austria named Abu Usama al-Shishani, she was housed in various women’s quarters and would hardly ever have come out of the house.

The moment of the reunion at a police station looked uncomfortable and hesitant, however, as mother and daughter stared at each other uncertainly for over five seconds before finally embracing

During their reunion, Katharina gave her daughter a small cuddly toy with a red Christmas hat to remind her of better times in Germany.

The filthy, dazed and wounded girl was seen being dragged out of a onetime ISIS stronghold by triumphant troops.

Next month, Linda will face trial in Baghdad, with Iraqi authorities so far refusing to extradite her to Germany.

According to sources inside German intelligence citing Iraqi sources, the former ISIS schoolgirl is unrepentant.

Another problem, according to sources inside Germany’s security apparatus, is that there is no extradition agreement between Iraq and Germany.
