Teenage girl admits lied Good Samaritan demanded sexual favours help fix her car are all LIES

Teenage girl admits her claims that a Good Samaritan demanded sexual favours when he stopped to help fix her car are all LIES – after he lost his job, his wife and spent two weeks in jail

  • Kenan Basic stopped to help a 19 year old woman with her car at service station
  • Woman had a broken-down car and Mr Basic spent two hours helping her fix it
  • They hugged and he followed her a short distance to make sure she was alright
  • Days later the woman claimed Mr Basic stalked her and indecently assaulted her
  • Mr Basic spent two weeks in prison, lost his job and is going through a divorce
  • All charges were dropped against him after woman admitted to lying

The young woman who claimed a Good Samaritan sexually assaulted her after helping fix her car has told a court she lied about the entire ordeal.

Caitlyn Gray told police she was stalked, harassed and eventually assaulted by 36-year-old Kenan Basic in Bankstown, south-west Sydney, in November 2018.

The married father-of-one vehemently denied the allegations, but spent two weeks inside Silverwater jail in Sydney’s west before Ms Gray confessed she made it up.

The now 20-year-old pleaded guilty in Bankstown Local Court on Wednesday to lying about the assault.

Her mum stood by her as her lawyer Sabbagh Suliman asked to have the case adjourned long enough to obtain a psychological report, news.com.au reported.

Mr Basic previously said he was grateful to be free after all charges were dropped last Monday, but was now hesitant to help strangers.

The 36-year-old lost his job after Ms Gray’s allegations and is now in the process of getting divorced.

‘I always help people you know, all my life, and this is the first time the snake bite me,’ he said.

Ms Grey pulled into a BP service station after she had a minor car accident and met Mr Basic, who spent almost two hours helping get her car back on the road.

CCTV captured the interaction between the pair, but Ms Gray told police he followed her after she drove away.

Mr Basic admitted he did follow her, but claimed he did so to ensure her car didn’t break down again.

Ms Gray, who was 19 at the time, claimed Mr Basic propositioned her for sex in return for fixing her car before forcing himself on her.

‘No-one would ever expect that as a Good Samaritan you stop to assist a broken down motorist that then you would subsequently be charged with these serious offences,’ Mr Basic’s lawyer Mona El Baba previously said.

Ms Gray will be sentenced on one count of knowingly making a false or misleading statement on June 25.
