Teenager is horrifically stabbed near Kennington Tube station in South London – as officers cordon off scene

  • A teenager was found with stab injuries and soon taken to hospital for treatment

A teenager has been stabbed multiple times close to a south London Underground station. 

Officers raced to a residential street close to Kennington Tube station at around 5pm following reports of a stabbing.  

Upon arrival, police found a teenager with stab injuries and he was immediately taken to hospital for treatment. 

His condition is currently unknown and a crime scene remains in place. No arrests have been made. 

The Metropolitan Police say they were called to De Laune Street, south London just after 5pm

A spokesman for the force said: ‘Police were called after 5pm to reports of a male found with stab injuries on De Laune Street, SE17.

‘Officers attended and a male believed to be in his teens was found with stab injuries. 

‘He was treated at the scene by the London Ambulance Service and conveyed to a South London hospital. 

‘We await an update on his condition at this time.

‘At this early stage in the investigation, no arrests have been made. Officers from Central London Criminal Investigation Department are investigating and enquiries continue.’

The force added that as a result of the incident and ‘increased tensions’ in the area, search powers under section 60 have been authorised in the area. 

Section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 allows a police officer to stop and search a person without suspicion. It is set for a limited time.
