A teenager has been forced to watch her grandmother die after being told she couldn’t speak to her after she was hit by a car.

Her grandmother, Sue Carroll, was on her way to pick up one of her granddaughters when she was fatally struck on Wyong Road at Berkeley Vale on New South Wales’ Central Coast.

‘She was just about to take a step off the road and then the car hit her,’ Natalee told 9 News.

‘She just fell to the ground. I ran over but I wasn’t allowed to go near her but I tried my hardest just to stay there’.

This is just one of five road related accidents that have happened in different parts of New South Wales in just a span of a day.

Three people were also killed after three separate vehicle crashes in Bogabilla, Cobar and Blacktown yesterday, 9 News reports.

One pedestrian was also struck while crossing the Pacific Highway in Sydney’s St Leonards, while another pedestrian was hit in Springwood, west of Sydney.

Data from the New South Wales Centre for Road Safety shows that, while road safety has significantly improved since the 1990s, the number of road related accidents are steadily increasing since 2014.

In 2014, there were a total of 307 casualties in New South Wales alone, followed by 350 in 2015, 380 in 2016 and 391 deaths in 2017.
