Televangelist Jim Bakker is now hawking a ‘silver gel’ he claims can cure ‘all venereal diseases’

Televangelist, author and convicted felon Jim Bakker is back with another product he says cures ‘all venereal disease’ and is made up of ‘silver.’

In a video clip where he’s introducing the product, the star of The Jim Bakker Show sits beside his co-host and wife, Lori Bakker, as the two tout the benefits of ‘Silver Solution.’

‘Do you know the one thing we never talk about, really, is one of the few gels and products that cures, or gets rid of, all venereal diseases,’ he says to the man and woman sharing the screen with the Bakkers, in a video shared to the Twitter account for Right Wing Watch.

‘This is like a… miracle in a tube!’

The product is available in liquid and gel form in various bundles, ranging from $25 for four ounces of the gel version, $40 for one 16-ounce bottle of the liquid version and $175 and $250, respectively, for a case one dozen of each version.

This is the scandal-ridden church-goer’s latest endeavor to make money.

In February, Jim came out with offers for fuel-less generators, doomsday guidebooks and buckets of food that he promised would last 30 days and said were necessary to prepare as he says the end of the world approaches, according to the Charlotte Observer.

According to The Jim Bakker Show website, ‘Silver Solution Liquid can be taken up to three times daily according to directions’ and  ‘each 16 oz. bottle contains 96 adult doses.’

The contents of what’s inside the silver solution aren’t explicitly revealed, and the pitch leaves a lot of questions unanswered, like how long it’s supposed to take to cure you of every single sexually transmitted infection and disease known to humankind.

‘Some marketers claim that colloidal silver is effective against hundreds of diseases,’ Dr. Stephen Barrett of Quackwatch said.

‘In recent years, silver-containing products have been marketed with unsubstantiated claims that they are effective against AIDS, cancer, infectious diseases, parasites, chronic fatigue, acne, warts, hemorrhoids, enlarged prostate, and many other diseases and conditions.’

Dr. Barrett describes his website as, ‘Your Guide to Quackery, Health Fraud, and Intelligent Decisions.’

He must need it, according to public records that show IRS tax liens against him, and him and his former wife and former co-host Tammy Faye Bakker (who died in 2007), amount to $5.5 million.

Jim and Tammy Faye used to co-host PTL, which stood for ‘Praise the Lord,’ but people later came to associate with ‘Pass the Loot’ as the two were notorious for a lavish lifestyle that included air conditioners for their dogs.

During the height of their popularity, Jim and Tammy Faye ran a Christian theme park that spanned 2300 acres in Fort Mill, South Carolina, which is also where they taped their show.

The two parted ways in a divorce in 1992, after it was revealed in 1987 that Jim paid money to cover up a 15-minute affair with a church secretary by the name of Jessica Hahn.

Jim later served close to five years in federal prison for fraud related to PTL.

Now, Jim and his current wife, Lori, tape The Jim Bakker Show from another Christian compound, deep in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri.
