What a difference a decade makes! Social media users say goodbye to the 2010s by sharing incredible then-and-now photos with #10YearChallenge

As the decade comes to a close, reflective social media users from across the globe have revealed just how much they’ve changed since 2009 as part of the viral ten year challenge.

The #10YearChallenge has been circulating Instagram and Twitter, and sees users posting a current photo of themselves alongside one from ten years ago.  

As the new year approaches, nostalgic users shared their mind-blowing transformations, also using other hashtags such as #HowHardDidAgeHitYou, #GlowUp, and #tenyearchallenge. 

Here, FEMAIL have put together some of the best ten year transformations  – from new hairstyles, to new bodies and even new babies!

For Twitter user Rebecca Jacobs from Hastings, UK, it seems it was a matter of #50ShadesOfHairColours. Rebecca at 27 sported ruby red locks in 2009, left, and has gone for a dramatic change with a platinum bob ten years later, right

Some used the challenge to reflect on their relationship. For London local Emma Gunn, (seen left before and right afterwards) it has been both an exciting and challenging decade. She said: 'Uni years, a bone marrow transplant, our first home, more cancer, a wedding and a puppy later - I wouldn’t change a second of it. Thanks @mattandes, it’s been a banging decade'
