Tennessee Halloween display has neighbors calling 911

  • Early Halloween display in Greeneville, Tennessee has freaked out neighbors
  • Some called 911 to report what looked like a body trapped under the garage door
  • Sheriff’s department issued a humorous plea to the community to stop the calls

An early Halloween display that looks a little too realistic has freaked out several neighbors, prompting them to call 911.

Joseph Lovergine began decorating his house in Greeneville, Tennessee early for his annual Halloween party, and was surprised when several sheriff’s deputies pounded on his door Wednesday.

They were there about the the ‘body’ – a dummy placed against the garage to look like it had been sliced in half by the door.

This is the Halloween decoration which is prompting concerned residents to call 911

Lovergine’s special effects – including fake blood concocted out of hair get and red food coloring, were convincing enough that neighbors called the police.

‘There’s a guy laying in his driveway, with two big bloody handprints on side of the house,’ concerned citizen Johnny Riddle told the 911 operator, WJHL reported.

‘It looks like he was dead. I don’t know, I didn’t stop I just came on to work,’ Riddle continued.

Thinking the situation could be serious, the sheriff’s department sent several units to investigate.

Just to be sure, they even removed one of the dummy’s shoes to make sure it wasn’t a body.

Once the situation was resolved, the Green County Sheriff’s Department took to Facebook to plead with residents to stop reporting the ‘body’.

‘Do NOT call 911 reporting a dead body,’ says the post, which includes a photo. ‘Instead, congratulate the homeowner on a great display.’

Lovergive said that his family loves Halloween and always decorates early.
