Tennis champ Ash Barty announces engagement to golfer boyfriend of five years Garry Kissick


Ash Barty is engaged to her boyfriend of five years, Garry Kissick. 

The tennis champion announced the good news in an Instagram post shared on Tuesday. 

Sharing two photos of the pair cuddled up together, in which she flashed her diamond ring, Ash, 25, wrote in the caption: ‘Future Husband’ alongside a ring emoji.

Golfer Gary, 29, also shared the images to his own social media, revealing that the pair had actually become engaged a week prior, on November 15. 

He wrote in his caption: ’15/11/2021 love you @ashbarty’. 

The Australian tennis star met Gary at Brooklands Golf Club in Queensland in 2016 during a round of golf, and they have been together since.

The loved-up pair, who have been branded ‘the most normal couple in tennis’, use pet names for each other such as ‘handsome boy’ and ‘baby’. 

Barty puts down her success thanks to her loving and caring partner because they have created a home filled with love.  

Garry said that Barty was ‘the best person I’ve ever met’ and his Instagram page is filled with photos of the couple together.

‘It’s refreshing because you often see mismatched liaisons in this sport,’ a friend told Woman’s Day.

‘It’s funny to watch Ash practising at the big tournaments with her coach and see Garry pop up as the ball boy. He’ll skip back and forth, helping out between their rallies, encouraging her by passing on cricket scores or cracking jokes.

‘Without even meaning to, Garry helps Ash play her very best tennis, because there’s certainly no pressure from him.’
