Terri Irwin raises eyebrows with cheeky joke about how ‘size matters’

The Irwins aren’t exactly known for their risqué humour.

So fans were understandably surprised when 57-year-old matriarch Terri made a rather dirty joke on Twitter on Thursday.

She tweeted a photo of herself next to an enormous pizza to mark National Pizza Pie Day in the United States, and wrote: ‘Size matters.’

That’s not like you! The Irwins aren’t known for their risqué humour, so fans were surprised when 57-year-old matriarch Terri tweeted this joke about how ‘size matters’ on Thursday

While she was of course referring to the large pizza, the phrase ‘size matters’ is often used in reference to the size of a man’s equipment.

Terri’s followers weren’t expecting the wholesome zookeeper to post such a cheeky tweet, with one replying: ‘In a pizza, agreed, Terri. Who knew you were naughty?’

Another fan wrote, ‘It’s a risky joke,’ alongside a GIF of a man sweating profusely.

Aussie model Ellie Gonsalves, who recently got engaged at Australia Zoo, also tweeted a crying-with-laughter emoji.

It comes after Terri’s granddaughter Grace Warrior met an echidna for the first time at Australia Zoo, under the watchful eye of her mother Bindi.

Grace, 10 months, sat in her mum’s lap as she glanced at the spiny anteater less than a metre away, while Bindi carefully placed a hand on the animal’s back.

‘Happiness is meeting an echidna for the very first time,’ Bindi wrote on Instagram.

‘Sweet Grace Warrior loved watching all the digging for ants. Monotremes (egg-laying mammals) are the coolest.’

Bindi recently opened up about her anxieties since becoming a mother.

The conservationist, who gave birth to daughter Grace last March, spoke about her worries in the season premiere of her reality show Crikey! It’s a Baby.

‘Motherhood has been the greatest adventure of my life,’ the 23-year-old said, according to TV Week magazine.

‘I’ve never worried so much in my life, because I want her to be absolutely healthy and happy a hundred per cent of the time,’ she added.

‘But I’m also happier than ever, just being with my family and enjoying time together.’

Bindi and her husband Chandler Powell welcomed their daughter on March 25, 2021, which coincidentally was the couple’s first wedding anniversary.

She may only be 10 months old, but Grace Warrior has clearly inherited her family’s affinity for Australian wildlife.

The child is reportedly displaying a fondness for animals reminiscent of her late grandfather Steve Irwin.

Grace’s grandma Terri – who now runs Australia Zoo after her husband’s death – told Entertainment Tonight: ‘She’s got that determination that Steve had and that connection with wildlife… Because it is weird to see animals just gravitate to her.’

‘So she’ll go out in the morning in the stroller, and all the kangaroos just gather around her like they’re having a meeting,’ the 57-year-old zookeeper added.

Grace’s mother Bindi Irwin agreed, saying her baby girl had made quite the impression on the animals in their popular sanctuary.

‘Oh my word, the koalas… literally climb out of their trees to come see her,’ the former Dancing with the Stars champ, 23, revealed.

Famous conservationist Steve Irwin, known to millions around the world as ‘the Crocodile Hunter’, died on September 4, 2006, at the age of 44 after being pierced in the chest by a stingray while filming a documentary in Batt Reef, Queensland.
