Terrified bus passenger throws a burning phone charger to the DRIVER

A bus passenger has escaped unscathed after her portable charger burst into a fireball on a bus in south-east China.

The woman was reportedly charging her phone with the device when it exploded in her bag.

The terrified passenger bolted from her seat, running up to the driver before throwing the burning device next to him. The driver then calmly put out the flames with a fire extinguisher.

Security camera footage shows a fire breaking out at the back of the carriage when the bus was travelling towards a terminal station, in Longhai, Fujian Province.

The incident occurred at around 3pm on June 20.

The driver was alerted when the woman suddenly screamed and started running on the bus.

She lifted her bag and carried it to the front of the bus before throwing the exploded charger next to the driver.

‘Sorry! I don’t know what to do,’ the female passenger yelled at the driver.

The driver quickly put out the flames using a fire extinguisher stored to his right.

He stopped the bus to let all passengers get off before kicking the charger off the bus.

Mr Chen, a spokesman at Longhai Public Transport Company, said that the driver brought the situation under control as quickly as possible.

He added: ‘I guess it was a faulty charger. The fire started just after she plugged her phone in to charge it.’ 

No injuries have been reported as a result of the accident.
