Shocking dashcam footage has emerged of the moment a police car does a desperate U-turn to save an infant who narrowly escapes being run over.
The heroic driver runs out onto the suburban Australian road and picks up the child moments before officers get out and join her.

There is no sign of the toddler’s parents as the driver and two police officers carry the lucky child towards a nearby house.
Just before the infant is snatched off the road, a passing police car turns on its sirens and does a screeching u-turn, the video on Dashcam Owners Australia shows.
‘Oh my God,’ says the female driver after stopping in front of the toddler, who is looking around in confusion.

She then springs into action, dashing out of her vehicle and picking up the child, who is standing near the roadside.
‘Baby had snuck out through the garage door – all happened very quickly,’ said the video caption.
‘Mum very grateful we stopped to keep the baby safe.’
