Terrifying footage showing a masked gunman opening fire on a man as he walked into his family home before fleeing in a stolen Mercedes has been released by police.

CCTV footage showed the homeowner, who is known to police, walking up to his front door before bullets smashed into the wall around him at 2.20pm last Tuesday.

The 31-year-old victim managed to sprint into his house as more bullets hit his home on Valencia street in Caddens, in Sydney’s far-west.

Superintendent Brett McFadden told media the brazen daylight execution attempt was targeted and likely gang-related.

Two masked gunmen (one pictured) who attempted to kill a man as he walked into his western Sydney home are on the run

‘We are satisfied this is part of a number of incidents and the activities we have undertaken today are designed to suppress the activities of those that may seek retribution or retaliation,’ Superintendent McFadden said.

‘The nature of what it is linked to is the subject of our investigations.

‘We are working closely [with specialist agencies] to look at what may have preceded this incident that occurred on Tuesday.’

He said the intended target, a 31-year-old man who miraculously escaped without injury, was ‘well known’ to police.

While footage only shows one shooter police have been told there were two men firing shots at the homeowner.

The men then allegedly fled the scene in a stolen black Mercedes A45 coupe, which was torched and dumped in Friend Street, Merrylands.

Police said the raids were in a bid to ‘suppress further violent acts’ and prevent any retaliation attacks.

One of the homes raided after the attempted shooting murder was the lavish city apartment of Erkan ‘Eric the Wolf’ Keskin.

Mr Keskin, a high-ranking Lone Wolf gang member, was served a firearm prevention order, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Daily Mail Australia is not suggesting Mr Keskin had any involvement in the shooting, only that he was served a FPO.

Six other homefirearm prevention orders were served on individuals at Caddens, Cambridge Park, Castlereagh, Emu Plains, Kingswood, Sydney CBD, and Wentworth Point.

Investigators are seeking dash-cam footage or other vision anyone may have of the Mercedes travelling to or from the shooting on Tuesday.

The vehicle was bearing stolen Victorian plates, with registration AAV765, and is believed to have travelled between Caddens and Merrylands at speed.

Anyone with information that could assist investigators are being urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
