Terrifying moment overtaking Land Rover flips over and rolls across A11 before smashing into ditch

This is the terrifying moment a Land Rover Discovery flips onto its side, slides across the road and ends up in a ditch on its roof.

Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Roads Policing Unit said the car rolled 300m across the A11 carriageway near Six Mile Bottom in Cambridge.

Police said the driver escaped with a slight injury and called him a ‘miracle male’.

The distressing incident took place on the A11 near Six Mile Bottom on Friday.

The car can be seen veering off the carriageway before flipping over and bouncing towards the grass verge. 

Dust and smoke can be seen coming from the crashed car and filling the left hand side of the dash cam’s view.

The driver recording the crash then slows down and pulls over as the clip ends. 

Signs in the video show the speed limit in this area is 50mph.

The tweet said: ‘The exit slip road on the A11 on to the A1304 near Six Mile Bottom is closed due to a collision where a car has left the carriageway. Please take care on approach.’

The exit slip road was closed for around two hours to allow recovery to take place.

A spokeswoman for Cambridgeshire police said: ‘We were called to the incident at 12.44pm after reports of an RTC on the A11 near Six Mile Bottom.

‘A Land Rover Discovery had rolled 300m along the carriageway and ended up 15m into a ditch, on its roof.

‘Traffic officers said the car was ‘half the size of what it should be’ and referred to the driver as a ‘miracle male.’

‘Witnesses said it was a spectacular incident. The driver walked away with only slight injuries.’
