Terrifying moment trucker runs for his life before speeding train smashes into his semi after stalling on the tracks

New video captured the heart-stopping moment a trucker abandoned his enormous semi just moments before it was struck by a train.

In the footage, the stalled semi straddles the tracks as a railroad-crossing signal flashes red in the dead of night.

Horns are heard sounding as the locomotive quickly approaches the vehicle, leaving the driver inside little choice but to abandon the truck.

In the clip, the truck’s door swings open before the desperate driver scrambles down from his cabin and sprints for cover.

Only seconds later, the powerful train slams into the truck, creating a devastating crash site with pieces of the truck scattered across the road.

The truck bursts into pieces of flying debris, sending shards of metal and wood sailing through the air for dozens of feet.

For a moment, dust obscures the wrecked truck, before thinning out and revealing pieces of wood and scraps of metal strewn along the road.

The train makes a screeching noise as it attempts to break, but it is moving too quickly and continues charging down the track.

A few moments later, the train finally manages to come to a complete stop, at which point, the man recording the video gets out of their car and approaches the locomotive.

‘This train just hit this truck,’ he says as the train signal clanks in the background and the red light continues to flash.

After finding the truck driver, the man with the camera asks:

‘You all right, man?’

The flustered truck driver responds breathlessly:

‘What happened was I was trying to back up, and [the train signal’s barrier] came down on top of the truck.’

‘I’m like “oh the train’s gonna come.”‘

The man taking the video explains to the driver that he tried to get his attention by laying on the horn.

He then walks over to the overturned truck and films its heavily damaged trailer, before the video jumps forward and shows a fleet of firetrucks and other emergency-response vehicles parked along the narrow road.

The man who recorded the video was parked several yards behind the truck at the crossing.

He later said that his own car was ‘hit with a lot of debris.’

He added: ‘Everyone was ok except the semi-truck…Thank God [the driver] made it out of the truck!’
