Tesla autopilot detects DUCKS crossing highway and swerves just in time to save them

Incredible moment Tesla autopilot detects DUCKS crossing in the middle of a highway and automatically turns on just in time to save them

  • Remarkable moment Tesla autopilot takes over from a driver has been recorded
  • Driver was travelling at 100km an hour when autopilot avoids a group of ducks
  • Tesla Model 3 owner said before he even saw the ducks the autopilot kicked in

The incredible moment a Tesla car on autopilot swerves to avoid ducks crossing in the middle of a rural highway has been captured on Dashcam.

In footage, recorded on November 11, of the car travelling along the rural road in Victoria, the ducks can barely be seen until the car is almost on top of them.

Remarkably, the Tesla Model 3, travelling at 100km/h reacts in a split second and turns on before swerving to avoid the animals and then switching back off.

‘Driving at 100 kph and due to shadows I could not recognise the ducks crossing by myself,’ the Tesla Model 3 owner said.

‘Autopilot recognized, sounded the alarm, started to swerve and brake, and then disengaged. The ducks survived.’

The driver then says if it wasn’t for the autopilot function it may have been a different story for the ducks.

The Tesla Model 3 has been in production since 2017 with the car mainly being built in Tesla’s factory in Fremont California.

In Australia, the standard model, which is electric and features the autopilot, will set back potential owners just under $68,000.
