Tevas, which originally hail from the US, is a practical shoe which marry the best aspects of a flip flop with an open-toed sandal.
The shoes feature a solid rubber base and velcro straps which wrap around the toes and ankles.
And while at first glance they might seem like something your dad would wear, those with an eye toward what’s trending have been pairing them with all manner of Instagram worthy ensembles.

One Australian style figure who has embraced the Teva trend is Yan Yan Chan. She’s a fashion influencer with a social media following of 145,000.
In keeping with her sartorial bent for creatively constructed outfits, Yan Yan shows that by pairing the shoe with wide-legged pants and a t-shirt, she’s able to pull off a look that’s edgy while still being chic.

According to Kira Sheppard, a stylist for Teva, the way to pair socks and sandals is to allow these items to be the standout.
‘Use something vintage, something new, something with a lot of texture and I bring in a lot of neutrals because socks and sandals are basically the statement,’ she said on a video.
It’s a tricky look and one which gets mixed reviews, however, there are also fashion insiders such as writer and editor Lauren Sherman who say she celebrates anyone prepared to take a risk and do something different with their style.

‘I think that anyone who has the confidence to style Tevas and socks together should be applauded,’ she told MailOnline. ‘Does it look great? Who cares!’
She believes risk-taking is par for the course for genuine trendsetters.
‘Personal style is about making bold, albeit sometimes goofy, choices,’ she added.
