Texas girl, 14, is stabbed to death during a fight with another teen

  • Nylah Lightfoot was fatally stabbed at apartment building in Fort Worth early Tuesday morning 
  • Police have identified teen girl suspected in the stabbed but have yet to arrest her
  • Stabbing occurred during a verbal argument between Lightfoot and the other girl 

Police in Texas are on the hunt for a teenage girl who is accused of stabbing a 14-year-old girl to death during an argument overnight.

Officers responded to the Sycamore Point Apartments in the 8000 block of Peyton Lane in Fort Worth at around 3.30am on Tuesday and found Nylah Lightfoot suffering from a stab wound.

Lightfoot was airlifted to John Peter Smith Hospital, where she was pronounced dead an hour later.

A Fort Worth Police Department spokesperson said Lightfoot and her alleged assailant got into a verbal argument, which turned physical when the other girl grabbed a knife and stabbed the 14-year-old.

Police have identified the suspect in the stabbing, but she has not been arrested as of Tuesday afternoon, reported Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Her name and age have not been disclosed.

There was no word on a possible motive behind the altercation.   

Lightfoot resided a few blocks away from the crime scene on Chance Boulevard, and it’s unclear what she was doing on Payton Lane in the middle of the night.

Lightfoot was a student at Wedgewood Middle School until March 2017, when she left.
