Texas store clerk arrested for selling alcohol to minor who drank and killed two friends in accident

A Texas clerk that allegedly sold alcohol to a minor who was later involved in a horrific accident crash that left two teenage girls dead, has been arrested.

The Valero store clerk, Gumaro Munoz Campos, 29, was charged Sunday with one count of Sale of Alcoholic Beverage to a Minor, a misdemeanor, according to Chron.com.

If convicted he would face up to a year in jail, fines up to $4,000 and he could have his license suspended for 180 days. He denies selling booze to minors, and told reports while he was handcuffed, he always checks ID’s.

The arrest follows the horrendous crash on July 25, that involved Jaggar Smith, 17, who prosecutors say admitted he drank an entire bottle of Mad Dog 20/20, which has an alcohol volume of 13- 18 per cent before the crash.

The accident left his two close friends, Chloe Robison and Salma Gomez, both 16, dead after his car hit and tree with such force that the vehicle split in half.

When Smith’s car smashed into a tree, he was also allegedly speeding.

Witnesses told deputies Smith was doing 70 – 80mph in a 40mph speed zone, reported KPRC. All three occupants of the car were buckled up at the time of the crash.

Smith faces two counts of intoxication manslaughter.

When he first bonded out of jail. ABC reports he was wearing a blood-stained hospital gown, and declined to comment as he left in a taxi.

‘We will have no further public comment as no words could ever fill the hearts of the families and friends of Chloe and Salma,’ he said.

The rear half of the car, where Robison was riding, continued spinning before crashing into a second tree in the median.

Robison died at the scene, while Gomez was transported to Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital where she died from her injuries.

Smith was taken to Houston Northwest Medical Center, where he was treated for his injuries and arrested on two counts of intoxication manslaughter.

Smith’s uncle told ABC13 his nephew was returning from a quinceanera reunion party that Gomez had hosted on Tuesday night.
