Homeowners are heaping praise on an $8 ‘miracle’ product as the secret to sparkling showers, baths, pots, pans, sinks and taps. 

Bar Keepers Friend Cleanser & Polish Powder has long been used to remove soap scum from grubby shower screens, but now mums are saying the $8 product has other uses, too.

Whether it’s getting rid of the burnt edges of a saucepan or making your bathroom or kitchen look brand new, homeowners have said they are thrilled with the budget cleaning item and have added it to their supermarket staples list.

Even PR maven Roxy Jacenko has got in on the act.

Having recently moved home in Sydney, Roxy told FEMAIL she has been ‘amazed’ at the power of the ‘miracle’ product. 

‘I am super house proud now I’m in my own home,’ Roxy said. ‘BKF has been great at getting rid of stains, tarnish and marks.’

Roxy isn’t the only one sharing before-and-after pictures of the product’s uses.

Other mums have used it on their cook tops and sinks with great results.

‘So this is my first time using Bar Keepers Friend,’ one woman wrote on Facebook alongside two photos showing her ceramic cook top and sink before and after she’d cleaned them. 

‘I’ve been wanting to get it for a while and yesterday I finally remembered! It’s absolutely brilliant!’

The budget-conscious mum said while she thought the product was ‘a little expensive’ it was ‘so worth it’.

She added: ‘Definitely sticking to this!’

Others have included the $8 cleaning product in their cleaning ‘hall of fame’, citing it as a ‘life-changing’ product they swear by at home.

According to the website, Bar Keepers Friend is ‘famous for removing rust, metal tarnish, mineral deposits, and stains from most hard surfaces’. 

The website writes: ‘Excellent for removing stains and soap scum from glass shower screens.’

‘I did all my stainless steel appliances and kitchen and laundry sink… They came up like brand new!,’ one woman posted. 

Another wasn’t quite as convinced, writing: ‘I tried it on my kitchen sink after seeing it on this page but found I prefer using Jif. Didn’t find it did much to my shower screen either. Hopefully others have had better luck.’

'For tough or stubborn areas, I sprinkle BKF and then spray with this stuff [Orange Power Shower, Bath and Tile Cleaner] to saturate the powder and leave for a few minutes, then scrub,' one said (pictured: one before and after transformation)

Some said while it worked brilliantly on their letterbox and toaster, it wasn’t so good with the dishwasher.

‘I cannot believe the solid buildup of calcium I managed to remove by using these two together.’

Others recommended the Ajax spray from Aldi as doing a similarly good job.
