The Bachelor frontrunner Chelsie McLeod is ‘distancing herself from the franchise’ and ‘refusing to do interviews’, according to a report by New Idea.

The 28-year-old chemical engineer has also been ‘really down since filming wrapped’ despite widespread speculation she wins Matt Agnew’s heart on the show.

An insider told the magazine that Chelsie ‘shocked everyone’ by turning down press opportunities, but her recent media appearances seemingly disprove this.

The source said: ‘Chelsie has been really down since the show wrapped and now she has said she isn’t going to do any interviews.

‘She doesn’t want anything to do with the franchise anymore, despite being under contractual obligations for months to come.’

Despite these claims, Chelsie has been speaking to the media lately.

In fact, she is quoted in this week’s editions of TV Week and NW magazines, alongside her fellow finalists Helena Sauzier and Abbie Chatfield.

She will also be making an appearance on Sydney’s most popular FM breakfast show, KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O, later this week.

And far from ‘distancing herself’ from the franchise, she has been posting about The Bachelor on her Instagram account on a regular basis.

While New Idea’s claims are as yet unconfirmed, there is nonetheless growing speculation that Matt and Chelsie’s relationship could be in trouble.

Daily Mail Australia is aware of rumours that Matt has quietly split with Chelsie, who is widely believed to be the show’s winner, and is now dating runner-up Abbie.

Multiple sources have claimed they are ‘familiar’ with the rumours, but no-one has been able to provide definitive proof.

One contestant, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said they were ‘shocked’ by the speculation. Another said they had ‘heard something’ but don’t have evidence.

A third bachelorette insisted, however, that there was ‘no truth’ to the rumours.

Paparazzi are said to be on ‘high alert’ and are desperately trying to catch Matt and Abbie together before the Bachelor finale airs on Thursday, September 19.
