Shanae Ankney apologized to Clayton Echard for crashing the winning team’s date night party, grabbing their trophy and throwing it in the pond on Monday’s two-hour episode of The Bachelor on ABC.
‘This is a lot to take in,’ said Clayton, 28, in a confessional after hearing from some of the women about Shanae’s outburst. ‘To hear that Shanae was hurling expletives at people and taking the trophy and throwing it in the pond after she crashed the group date. It’s really hard for me to defend those actions. And I don’t know if I can continue having a connection with somebody in the house that displays that type of behavior because it is not acceptable.’
Before Clayton grabbed Shanae, Lindsey Windham, 28, an industrial sales rep from Orange, Texas, warned her that the other girls were angry and were probably ‘digging her grave.’
Insincere apology: Shanae Ankney delivered an Oscar-worthy performance while apologizing to the other women on Monday’s episode of The Bachelor on ABC
Shanae, 29, a recruiter for Sycamore, Ohio, said in a confessional before the cocktail party that she was feeling great and ‘I can’t think of one thing I did wrong thus far.’
When she sat down with the other women, however, they made it clear to her that they were very angry with her. She decided that in order to save herself she needed to not only apologize to Clayton but to the rest of the women, but she made it clear in a confessional later that she didn’t mean any of it.
‘I need an Oscar award for that performance,’ she said in the confessional. ‘B****es I’m done. He’s mine. I never thought I’d have to compete for one f***ing man. I’m this hot blonde bombshell. What else do I need to say? Give me the Oscar. Give me the Emmy. Give me the Golden Globe. And give me the f***ing rose.’
Clayton had pulled the winning team from the group date aside before the rose ceremony to get to the bottom of what happened that night.
Saying sorry: The 29-year-old recruiter from Ohio decided that in order to save herself she needed to not only apologize to Clayton but to the rest of the women
Sierra Jackson, 26, a yoga instructor from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, told Clayton about how Shanae said to her and Genevieve Parisi, 26, a bartender from Rehoboth, Massachusetts, ‘to keep her name out of our f***ing mouths, took the trophy and ran off with it and threw it into a pond.’
Teddi Wright, 24, a surgical unit nurse from Redlands, California, told Clayton that she thought that Shanae throwing the trophy in the pond was really absurd and didn’t know how she could come back from that.
Clayton then told Shanae he wanted to speak to her. The women wondered if this would mean that Shanae would be going home that night.
Private conversation: Clayton then told Shanae he wanted to speak to her
‘Finally,’ said Hunter Haag, 28, an HR specialist from Lake Wylie, South Carolina. ‘This is so long overdue.’
‘She’s got to go,’ said Sierra in a confessional.
Shanae said in a confessional that she was thinking the worst when Clayton pulled her aside.

‘This is scary,’ Shanae said. ‘They don’t like me because they are threatened. But if you are going to f*** with me watch out. I know what’s coming. I’m ready for it…theses b****es are not sending me home.’
Clayton and Shanae sat down and he told her that ‘I heard some things happened since we last spoke.’ Shanae explained that she was still heated after they spoke and admitted that she walked up to Sierra and Genevieve and told them to keep her name out of their mouths and then she threw the trophy.
‘I’m upset and I’m tired of hearing my name,’ Shanae said.
Trophy toss: ‘I’m upset and I’m tired of hearing my name,’ Shanae said
‘This has been very challenging for me because it is creating more turmoil in the house and I don’t want this to be a hostile environment’ Clayton said. He said if this continues, he doesn’t know how they could move forward. He asked her if she felt apologetic about her actions of throwing the trophy in the pond.
‘Yeah, no I want to apologize,’ Shanae said. ‘I was heated in the moment and then after I went home and thought about it, I should never have done that. Like that’s not my character. That’s not me.’
Shanae told Clayton she was really sorry and said she hoped that he would accept her apology. She said she hoped by apologizing and being truthful that it would help their connection move forward. She told him she planned to also apologize to the other contestants.
‘Okay,’ said Clayton.
Shanae then returned to the room with the other women and said she was really nervous and started to cry as she addressed them to apologize.

‘I wanted to tell you guys that I’m really sorry,’ said Shanae. ‘It wasn’t my intention to hurt any of you guys and I know I took a lot of time away from you guys with Clayton. I know this has been going way too far and I know I have said some things that I didn’t mean but I am really sorry. I hope we can get past this.’
Shanae told them that she wanted to be able to confide in them and be there for one another.
‘I’m truly sorry,’ she said.

Shanae told the other women that she regretted her actions. Marlena Wesh, 30, a former Olympian from Virginia Beach, Virginia, was the first to come forward and said she accepted her apology. Susie Evans, 28, a wedding videographer from Poquoson, Virginia, also said she accepted her apology.
‘I respect the fact that you did that,’ said Susie. ‘If you maintain those actions that you just spoke about, there are people in the room that will be there for you and I think what you did was really big.’
Shanae thanked her and then walked back to talk to Clayton. She told him that she apologized to the girls and was very thankful that she did.
‘And it all went well?’ asked Clayton. Shanae said it did and then he said ‘thank you for doing that’ and leaned in and kissed her.

‘That was the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my entire life,’ Shanae said later in a confessional. ‘Apologize to people that I wasn’t sorry for. I’m not sorry hoes.’
Shanae said she never thought she would act before but now she realized that she was good.
Show host Jesse Palmer, 43, then gathered the women for the rose ceremony.

Sierra said in a confessional before the ceremony that she hoped that Clayton would send Shanae home.
‘You don’t commit a crime, say sorry and get away with it,’ Sierra said.
Clayton walked and thanked everyone for being open and honest with him. He said he also hoped that everyone felt seen and heard. He told them he was following his heart when he made his decision on who to hand out a rose to.

When she walked out Sierra said to the camera that ‘if Shanae is what he wants then he can keep Shanae. I mean that is his own bed that he is going to lie in but anybody would have been a better decision than her. ‘

Mara said in a confessional, ‘I am definitely surprised that Shanae is still here. It’s baffling.’ She said she just hoped the drama disappeared.
Shanae was ecstatic.
‘Holy f*** I just sent another b**** home,’ Shanae said victorious in a confessional while twirling her rose around. ‘I literally sent home two girls back to back. Who’s next on my list?’

Shanae said in the confessional that she felt that everyone should watch out.
‘Everyone better be scared because he’s mine,’ she said.
The season 26 episode started with the women rehashing Shanae’s behavior of crashing the winning team’s date night party with Clayton.
Controversial decision: Some of the women questioned Clayton’s choice of Shanae
‘Last night was totally inappropriate what happened,’ said Susie. ‘The trophy thing was insane. I thought Shanae was going to chuck a drink at somebody. That was her body language.’
Jillian ‘Jill’ Chin, 26, an architectural historian from Scituate, Rhode Island, agreed and told Susie that it was hard to focus on a relationship with all the drama.
‘I can’t imagine being him and it sucks being us,’ Jill said.
Rachel Recchia, 25, a flight instructor from Clermont, Florida, who was sitting in bed with Jill, said that Clayton just didn’t know the full picture and she told them ‘I just feel something has to be done.’
Clayton said to the camera, while on the beach, that he had a good conversation with Shanae when she crashed the group date but that he didn’t think the women were happy to see her at all. He said he planned to discuss it at the next cocktail party with the women but for now he just wanted to focus on his one-on-one date with Serene Russell, 26, an elementary school teacher from Oklahoma City.

Serene jumped into his arms when she saw him. He told her that they had the entire Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier and all the rides to themselves. They both screamed and laughed riding the roller coasters and other rides.
In a confessional, Serene said that her relationship with Clayton felt very natural from the start. She said it was really nice to have this day alone with Clayton. She said he was really fun and goofy.
Clayton later served her ice cream and the two kissed as they ate it.

‘I feel Clayton is a really good kisser and I feel when we kiss we are connected,’ Serene said in a confessional. ‘I think it shows that the feelings are mutual and we have a good connection.’
After enjoying the rides, Clayton and Serene sat down and talked. She told him that she felt that they had a really good connection. They kissed again as the sun set behind them.
‘The day went about as perfect as it could have gone today,’ Clayton said. He said they both had this strong connection but that he wondered if their relationship could go deeper. ‘We are at the halfway point with this whole journey. I would really like to be confident in my decision after today to continue this relationship with Serene, but I’m very optimistic that tonight could end on a perfect note.’

Later for their evening date, Serene changed in a black cocktail dress and Clayton put on a suit. They sat down for a romantic dinner. Clayton told her that their day was a very thrilling day and that he had fun from start to finish.
Serene said ‘I’m really happy and I’m really glad that I’m here.’ She told him she had something important to tell him so he could see the whole picture of who she was.
‘I honestly don’t open up a lot to people,’ she said. ‘In my family we don’t really talk about things.’

Clayton told her that his childhood was similar and that his father was ‘tough love’ and that he didn’t talk about his emotions with his two brothers either. Clayton said he was glad that she was going to open up because he felt there was a wall up that she was protecting herself with.
‘I’ve had a lot of loss in the past couple of years,’ said Serene. ‘Like unexpected loss and I hadn’t really experienced that until then.’
Serene told him that two and half years ago her grandmother passed away and that this year she also lost her cousin, who was only a year younger than her.

‘I’m as at peace with it as I can be, at this point it’s still really fresh, but I just try my best to get through it,’ Serene said.
Clayton thanked her for sharing. Serene said that her cousin was like a sister to her. She started crying talking to him about her memories of her cousin.
‘It’s easy to share with you because you just have these really kind eyes,’ said Serene. ‘Thanks for listening to me and making me feel so comfortable.’

Clayton picked up the rose and told her he was blown away by everything she did today.
‘From the fun times that we had to you opening up and allowing me to get to know more about you and how you are hardwired,’ Clayton said holding the rose. ‘I could not be happier with what I am seeing of you and where this could go so Serene will you accept this rose?’

After the rose ceremony, Clayton addressed the remaining women and told them he wanted to take their travels international and that they were going to Toronto, Canada.
He told the camera that he was excited to bring the women to such a beautiful city and that he was already shocked that he had such a strong connection with several of the women. He said he knew there had been some drama with Shanae but that he was ready to move on.
The women arrived in Toronto excited and checked into the hotel’s penthouse. The first date card arrived and it was for a one-on-one date for Gabby. Clayton then walked in and hugged Gabby and then left.

Gabby and Clayton had a romantic dinner. He told her it was a good day and that she made it fun. She said she wanted to make sure he knew every part of her and that she had been insecure in the past in relationships. She said it had been hard for her to receive love because she feels in a sense undeserving. Gabby said it stemmed from her relationship with her mother that was strained. She told Clayton that she missed her mother but that they didn’t have a relationship right now.
‘She did the best she was given but unfortunately it affected me,’ Gabby said.
Clayton thanked her for sharing. He told Gaby that she was deserving. Gabby told him that she had been through a lot of therapy and that she was ready to pursue a relationship. They kissed and Clayton gave her a rose.

He told them that they were going to roast Clayton and each other. After the women worked on their roast, they brought in a small audience to watch them perform. Marlena went first and had everyone laughing. She had a joke about Shanae even though she wasn’t on the group date.
‘Shanae is like a herpes outbreak no matter how hard you try to get rid of her she keeps coming back and lasting longer than expected,’ said Marlena.

Eliza said to Clayton for her roast ‘you obviously have a dump truck a** so I’m confused why you haven’t taken out all the trash yet’ while pointing at the remaining women in the audience.
Sarah directed most of her roast jokes at Mara calling her a cougar and saying she had a gap in her teeth. Mara replayed the favor and directed her jokes at her.
