The Bachelor will feature smarter contestants… after a viral video showed one confused woman

Brains AND beauty? The Bachelor will feature smarter contestants this year… despite one woman confusing astrophysics with astrology in a cringeworthy teaser for the show

The Bachelor has stepped up its game in the brains department despite a viral video appearing to show one constant confusing astrophysics with astrology.

One of this season’s stars, Sogand Mohtat, is a civil engineer vying for the heart of 31-year-old suitor Matt Agnew.

Speaking to The Saturday Telegraph, the 30-year-old said that the new season’s ladies are ‘really career driven’ and intelligent to match accomplished astrophysicist Matt.

Brains and beauty! Civil engineer Sogand Mohtat, 30, said the latest season of The Bachelor has ‘smart girls’ to match 31-year-old astrophysicist Matt

‘Matt is an astrophysicist so they had to find smart girls to match him with,’ Sogand said.

‘I think producers saw Matt, who focused on his career for the past couple of years and they wanted to find someone in the same situation.

‘A lot of us girls on the show this season are really career driven.’

Sogand, who was born in Iran and lives in Sydney, may prove to be an intellectual match for Matthew thanks to her career as a civil engineer.

She is also passionate about lip fillers, and is even the brand ambassador of a cosmetic clinic in Parramatta.

Other career-driven woman include jewellery designer Cassandra Mamone, chemical engineer Chelsie McLeod and property analyst Abbie Chatfield.

Sogand’s brains-over-beauty reveal comes after a viral video appeared to show multiple contestants confused about Matt’s profession.

In the clip, suitor Matt meets contestant Abbie, 23, for the first time at the cocktail party.

When asked what he does for a living, Matt tells Abbie he’s an astrophysicist, and she responds by saying: ‘Okay, I’m a Gemini’.

While she was only joking, many fans assumed that she really believed astrophysics was the study of astrological signs.

Astrology is a pseudoscience predicated on the belief that people’s personalities and destinies are ‘written in the stars’.

Astrophysics, on the other hand, is a branch of astronomy and legitimate science.

More worryingly, one contestant Vakoo Kauapirura struggled to pronounce ‘astrophysicist’ while another woman said ‘it sounds like a fake job’ in the clip.
