The Bachelor’s Gemma White reveals her staggering 26kg weight loss after being bullied at school and entering beauty pageants

The Bachelor’s Gemma White, 28, has revealed details of how she was inspired to lose 26kgs after being cruelly taunted by schoolyard bullies.

In an unearthed interview with The Courier Mail, the former beauty queen revealed she began her weight loss journey at age 15 after suffering years of bullying.

‘I was 26kg heavier than I am now. There’s nothing wrong with being bigger or smaller, but it’s a matter of being happy,’ she told the publication in 2017.

‘I was huge compared to everyone else in my year and I was bullied for that, and the fact is that one in three children are bullied,’ she said.

At age 17, the blonde joined a deportment and modelling school – while continuing to shed even more weight.

Unfortunately, Gemma’s shrinking frame inspired bullies to take aim at her for a different reason.

‘I then copped bullying on the other side with people saying, “Oh, she must be bulimic”, but I was able to overcome that,’ she explained.

Gemma went on to join the pageant world, eventually winning the title of Miss Australia Continents 2018.

In April 2018, she celebrated her birthday by sharing a throwback photo of herself 22kgs heavier.

Reflecting upon her transformation in the caption, Gemma explained that she has become a ‘happier, healthy, more confident’ version of herself.

‘I understand the importance of good food and nourishing my body, mind and soul. I exercise because it feels good. I eat well because I feel better for it,’ she wrote.

‘I try to enjoy the simple things in life and chocolate (in moderation!) when I want it. I’ve trained myself to be this way, its taken a hell of a lot of hard work, dedication and determination,’ Gemma added.
