The Bachelor’s Megan Marx reveals her secret battle with depression

The Bachelor’s Megan Marx has revealed her struggle with depression.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, the 28-year-old confessed she was first prescribed anti-depressants when she was a young teenager.

Megan also admitted she was in a particularly ‘dangerous place’ in May last year.

‘I was prescribed anti-depressants when I was 14’: Former Bachelor star Megan Marx revealed her mental health battle this week, admitting she was in ‘a very dangerous place without hope’

She wrote: ‘Depression is a stewing, insidious disease which can be very well hidden, because for some of us it’s a real struggle to tell others how flat and hollow we feel.

‘For myself it was never just circumstantial, it was an intrinsic state I couldn’t shake (I was prescribed anti-depressants when I was fourteen).

‘Last year after going through some personal distresses, however, my pains were exacerbated, and so I spent a lot of time camping by myself when I was in Australia, and travelling to escape instead of getting help which I desperately needed.

‘People have always described me as relaxed and even-tempered and I didn’t want to upset my “image” or worse, burden others with what I felt was a sour, unrelenting state that surely would pass on like an infection.

‘My worst point, in May last year, was a very dangerous place without perspective or hope, and I ask myself now – why didn’t I see a psychologist?’

Megan confessed she did not seek professional help at the time because she was often travelling and felt it would be inconvenient.
