It is quite possible that Belmont Park will look bigger to you than any typical track that is because it is. The outside dirt track also called the “Main Track,” measures 1.5 miles in circumference which makes it the longest dirt track on the entire continent. First, you have is the “inside track” which is surfaced with a turf. This track is known as the Widener Turf Course, & at 15/16 miles long, it spans longer than many “outside tracks” that you’ll encounter. The Widener Turf Course is not the only inner circle track that you will notice if you ever a make the trip to Belmont Park, New York. The Inner Turf Course here is strategically positioned inside the two outer tracks & it measures 13/16 miles. There is even a training track which is 1 mile long, and it borders the eastern end of the main dirt track.

The Belmont Stakes
