The best currency for the Seychelles revealed and how to get travel insurance to cover flights to New Zealand: The Holiday Guru solves traveller queries
The Holiday Guru is always on call to answer your questions.
This week how to obtain Seychelles rupees and specialist travel insurance are on the agenda…
Q. What is the best currency to take to the Seychelles? I am having difficulty obtaining Seychelles rupees.
Mr G.V. Harper, Winnersh, Berkshire.
Bank fees for ATMs can be steep in the Seychelles, above, warns the Holiday Guru
A. Take sterling and exchange at banks (including Barclays) or bureaux de change; one pound is currently about 16.5 rupees. There is no commission and little variation in exchange rates, though do check. Beware: bank fees for ATMs can be steep.
Q. My wife and I have arranged medical insurance for a four-month trip to New Zealand. How can we obtain travel insurance for the flights to and from Britain, not for the entire four months?
Dick Carrington, via email.
It’s best to consult an insurance broker if you require specialist travel insurance, advises the Holiday Guru
A. Best to discuss such an individual case with an insurance broker. The British Insurance Brokers’ Association has a website search tool for specialist travel insurers (biba.org.uk, 0370 950 1790).
