WHAT TO DO

Does your neck ever feel tight? Personal trainer Nadya Fairweather (u-shape.co.uk) recommends this exercise to help flexibility. You can do it standing or sitting.

Gently drop your ear to one side and leave it there for 30 or so seconds, until you can feel yourself relaxing.

Then roll your head forwards and round to the other side. Drop your other ear towards your shoulder and relax.

Repeat ten times, each time trying to get your ear a bit closer to the shoulder and allowing the stretch to take longer. Work on this routine every day for at least a month.

WHAT TO EAT

The neck can be such a giveaway of a person’s age — but certain nutrients can help keep it looking firm, says nutritionist Shona Wilkinson (shonawilkinson.com).

Oranges are a great source of vitamin C, which triggers production of collagen to help boost elasticity and tighten the skin. They also contain zinc and selenium, both of which can improve elastin production.

Drink green tea: its catechins help prevent the breakdown of collagen. It also contains antioxidants called polyphenols, which help prevent free radical damage, and can therefore slow down the ageing process.

Oysters also contain selenium and zinc — and can boost libido, too!
