The Best New Drugstore Beauty Products of 2018

One of the (major) perks of being a beauty editor is getting to test every new product under the sun. The amount of things brands send to us on the regular is dizzying – in the absolute best of ways.

Because of this, the number-one question we get asked is ‘Ooh, what are you liking right now?’ The answer? So. Many. Things.

In an effort to make our answer a little more specific, each week we tell you the best products that have crossed our desks recently. This time around, we’re focusing on drugstore buys because shelves in the U.S. are brimming with fantastic products that cost under $15 right now.

I always pack a cleansing stick when I travel because it’s just one less liquid that might spill all over my clothes or get confiscated at security.

Unlike some others I’ve tried, this one melts on contact with damp skin so it doesn’t feel like I’m dragging the stick across my face. It also makes my complexion feel hydrated and soft after use, which is key post-travel.

Using fiber mascara is like getting lash extensions but without the irritation or splurge.

L’Oreal’s foray into the category is a two-step system. You start by coating lashes with the black primer at one end and then immediately follow with the fiber mascara wand at the other. The tiny fibers adhere to the lashes making them look longer and fuller.

The result isn’t super dramatic, but I like that the formula creates a natural, my lashes-but-better look.

As a beauty editor, I have quite the nail polish collection at home, so I try to save money and do my own manicures as often as possible. While my nail painting skills have majorly improved over the years, I still have to clean up the cuticle area with cotton swabs dipped in acetone every single time. Guess I didn’t miss my calling.

These protectors are my new secret weapon. They go over the tip of the finger, covering the areas of skin that I usually get polish on so at least it looks like I’ve painted inside the lines.

We’re in the thick of winter and my dehydrated skin needs all the help it can get in the glow department.

This serum packs a one-two punch by nourishing and soothing my complexion and giving it an instant radiance boost thanks to the rose water-infused formula that has a pink pearlescent finish. I’ve even applied it over make-up on the high points of cheekbones in place of a powder highlighter.

You can feel good about using this body wash, and not just because it cleanses and moisturizes your dry skin and has a heavenly rose scent.

The new, affordably-priced body and hair brand doesn’t use silicones or parabens in its formulas and all of the products come in 100-percent recycled bottles. Plus, the scents are all created with ethically sourced oil or extracts.
