With the selection of perfume brands on the market today, it’s safe to say we are spoiled for choice when it comes to scent.

But it seems that classic household names are still enjoying pride of place in the hearts of Australian fragrance lovers.

New research from online perfume encyclopedia Fragrantica reveals that the most popular scent of 2018 so far is Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle Intense (AUD $248).

The data pulled from Fragantica’s 519,876 perfume enthusiasts showed that this year, 60 per cent of Australia’s favourite fragrances come from France.

A brave update to the all time classic Coco Mademoiselle from 2001, Intense retains the romantic essence of the original while bringing a darker, more mature texture into the mix.

Chanel describes the scent as ‘the new facet of the Coco Mademoiselle personality’, set on a rich base of patchouli and amber laced with luxurious Latin Tonka bean and Madagascan vanilla.

With sparkling citrus top notes piqued with Sicilian orange resting on a bed of jasmine and rose, the perfume is warm, soft and feminine making it wearable all year round.

The success of Coco Mademoiselle Intense is a particularly special moment for the brand, representing the first major fragrance launch for the esteemed fashion house in 16 years.

This ‘powerful, deep and addictive’ fragrance has been hailed as the new Chanel favourite by perfume aficionados on MakeupAlley, with many reviewers praising the long lasting eau du parfum.

Retailing between $174 and $248, one shopper declared Coco Mademoiselle Intense to be the best perfume she had ever used in her life.

It’s no wonder, then, that the latest addition to Chanel’s elite collection is reigning supreme over the world of fragrance.
