Veteran character actor Jack Kehler has died at the age of 75 following complications amid a battle with leukemia.

Kehler’s son Eddie Kehler told Deadline that the actor had died at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Saturday.

One of Kehler’s most memorable roles, amid dozens of credits in TV and film, included the part of The Dude’s landlord Marty in the 1998 cult classic The Big Lebowski.

In the film from Joel and Ethan Coen, the landlord showed patience toward The Dude’s (Jeff Bridges) delinquent rent, reminding him, ‘Tomorrow’s already the 10th.’

Marty also invited The Dude, asking him for notes, to his dance performance at Crane Jackson’s Fountain Street Theatre, which The Dude attended.

Kehler was born in Philadelphia and honed his craft with Sanford Meisner and Wynn Handman, as he was a member of The Actors Studio.

Kehler had appeared as a regular character on the ABC series McKenna in 1994-1995, and on the second season of the ABC show Murder One in 1997.

He also played recurring parts on series including 2015’s The Man in the High Castle, I’m with Her in 2003-2004 and the miniseries Fresno in 1986.

Kehler had a prolific resume as a guest star on TV shows spanning decades, appearing on 1980s shows such as Hill Street Blues, Hunter, Cagney & Lacey, L.A. Law, Newhart and St. Elsewhere; and 1990s shows including ER, NYPD Blue, Tales from the Crypt, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Cop Rock, Wings and Ellen.

Shows he made guest spots on in the past two decades included Mad Men, Angel, Bones, Monk, 7th Heaven and Lethal Weapon. His final TV appearance came as a landlord last year on the Hulu show Love, Victor.

Kehler’s career also saw dozens of turns on the silver screen, with his first appearance coming in as a gas station attendant in the 1983 movie Strange Invaders.

Movies Kehler had appeared in include I Love You to Death, Point Break (1991), The Last Boy Scout, Grand Canyon, White Sands, Waterworld, Lethal Weapon 4, Dudley Do-Right, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, Men in Black II, Fever Pitch, Invincible and Pineapple Express.

Kehler is survived by wife Shawna Casey, son Eddie, daughter-in-law Mari-Anne and grandson Liam.
