The Block boss: Julian Cress flies private jets, has a fleet of Porches and enjoys lavish lifestyles

The Block’s executive producer Julian Cress has been slammed for parking his $500,000 Porsche on the street where filming  for the renovation series is taking place, just days after Channel Nine told residents to move their own cars off the road.

One resident claims Cress is parking his 911 Turbo S – with cringey personalised number plates – ‘wherever he pleases’.

And it seems the wealthy Aussie maybe used to doing whatever he pleases as he enjoys a lavish lifestyle of overseas trips, private jets and luxury cars.

Cress, who co-created The Block with David Barbour in 2003, is one of the country’s most successful TV producers and isn’t afraid to flaunt his wealth on social media.

The network big-wig lives in a sprawling, six-bedroom Melbourne mansion with his glamorous wife Sarah Armstrong and their two children, and spends his downtime travelling the globe in style.

A keen motor enthusiast, Cress often boasts about his fleet of luxury cars and regularly attends luxury vehicle meet-ups across the globe.

His Instagram page is filled with photos of him and his wife posing next to Porches,  Ferraris and Aston Martins.

The couple also recently travelled to Finland to attend a Porsche ‘ice driving experience’, an extreme course that allows motorheads to take luxury vehicles out onto the ice.

The pair also have a penchant for private jets, luxury hotels, fine dining and expensive wine.

In recent months, the couple dined at the upmarket Pas d’Art restaurant in Stockholm, Margaret Restaurant in Sydney’s ritzy Double Bay and the luxury Copenhagen venue Hotel d’Angleterre.

When he’s not holidaying or making visits to construction sites in his 911 Turbo S, Cress spends his days working behind-the-scenes on The Block and running his car enthusiast website The Motorists.

Designer fashion is also popular among the Cress clan as Julian, Sarah and their children often sport designer outfits and expensive accessories.

In June last year, Cress uploaded a photo of his A. Lange & Söhne watch, worth $100,000 while attending the TV Week Logie Awards.

His wife often totes a $25,000 Chanel handbag and designer eyeglasses.

Cress made headlines in May 2018 after he sold his Sydney mansion for  $4.275million.

The home, which he inherited from his Archibald Prize-winning father Fred Cress, featured four bedrooms, three bathrooms and won the MBA’s Excellence in Housing Award in 2015.

On the ground floor, a massive garage space had been constructed, featuring a car display turntable and enough space for four vehicles.

Cress utilised the talents of his friend, architect Julian Brenchley, in developing the property, with the pair choosing to rely on the warehouse’s existing industrial design elements.

A former investigative journalist and producer for 60 minutes, Cress has been at he helm of The Block for 19 seasons, and is also the co-creator of reality shows Reno Rumble, The Chopping Block and Changing Rooms Australia.

It comes as Cress continues to remain silent on the ‘entitled’ letter sent by Channel Nine asking residents of Charming Street, in Melbourne’s Hampton East, to move their cars so a commercial for The Block could be filmed.

The letter, which was sent out last week on Monday, sparked outrage for only giving residents short notice and telling them not to park their cars on the street or driveways.

‘We will bring various 7 x 1950’s cars to park on the street and period piece props and costumes,’ the letter read.

‘As we are dressing the street, we do request on Friday evening that you please not park on the street or in your driveways.

The letter went on to warn that residents living in house number 24 and 25 to make sure they didn't park their car outside their houses on Saturday. (Pictured: THe Block co-hosts Scott Cam and Shelley Craft)
